Hi friends!

How is your November starting off?  There’s been lots of excitement going on over here for me in Nashville, including… the second Food Network commercial of Next Door Chef! AHHH!

Next Door Chef is a unique dining experience that converts someone’s home into an actual restaurant for a day!  It was such a special honor to join this Music City experience with a professional chef and many bloggers and tastemakers in the gorgeous Nashville home of Travis and Claire this past Monday.  With the culinary scene exploding in Nashville, it was such a delight to sit down with good people and (real) good home-cooked food in a magical backyard setting for the evening.  Travis, the novice chef, learned firsthand how to make a remarkable meal with the guidance the professional chef, using different types of Morton Salt.  It’s amazing how a little salt can transform good eats to great!  We tried a number of inspiring dishes at that evening where we could taste how the salt really elevated each dish to elite dining.

I was particularly impressed by the use of salt in our cocktail to add balance to the acidic lemon.  Oh it was like sipping summer on the porch!  Now I’m inspired to use salt in seemingly un-traditional ways, like adding sweet & salty nuts to my family’s favorite Sweet Potato Casserole this holiday.  (Recipe to come!)  As a Nutritionist who can be a little laser-focused on limiting salt in the diet, I actually learned at the event the benefits of using Morton Kosher and Sea Salt, versus the standard table salt when cooking.  (If you’re using table salt for ALL your home-cooking needs, you’re doing it wrong folks!)
