Want a dessert recipe that will impress, but without all the complicated steps?  Try this GUILT-FREE APPLE ROSE recipe!

Not only is it simple enough that even the kids can do it, but it also uses wonton wrappers (instead of puff pastry or pie crust) so it’s virtually fat-free!  I also opted to use agave, which is sweeter than sugar, so I can use less.

INGREDIENTS

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

  2. Place the apple slices, lemon juice, and enough water to cover the apples in a medium-sized microwave-safe bowl. Microwave until slices are tender and bend easily — about 4-5 minutes.

  3. Drain all of the water from the cooked apple slices, then add in the agave and cinnamon and mix gently.

  4. Attach 2 wonton strips by lightly wetting one end with your finger and overlapping the other strip.

  5. Arrange the apple slices, skin side up, on the top portion of the wonton strip, slightly overlapping one another.

  6. Fold the bottom half of the wonton strip to meet the top and gently roll one end to meet the other.  Seal the edge at the end by lightly wetting.

  7. Place the rolled apple rose in a greased muffin tin. And repeat steps 4-6.

  8. Bake for 10 minutes or until wonton skin becomes crisp.

  9. Sprinkle with additional cinnamon and serve with light whipped topping if desired!
