Hey, y’all.  So I had the incredible experience of being trained as a Lifestyle Coach for the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program and I gotta tell you… I think this is a for real game changer!  The program (which is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Diabetes Prevention Program AND supported by the American Medical Association and American Heart Association) aims to help at-risk individuals lose weight through healthy eating and increased physical activity to help reduce their risk of developing diabetes.  What I love most is that this is all done in a group-setting over 12-months time where participants help each other navigate the all-to-often frustrating world of food, exercise and weight loss.

You can learn more about the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program here.

And to find a YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program closest to you in Nashville, visit: http://ymcamidtn.org/diabetes-prevention
(You can also complete the Diabetes Risk Self-Assessment Form to find out if the program would be a good fit for you.)

Be sure to follow me as I plan on posting updates about my experience with the program!
